The technology has played a great part in the medical field; it has given us fantastic gifts that have made it possible to treat disease, which was incurable once, in the quickest way possible. Similarly, technology has made the life of the children with special needs easier than before. For the children with special needs technology has introduced many assistive products, which are blessing for these children.

Assistive products and technology are used to help children with special needs so that they can do those things, which they cannot do otherwise. Assistive technology makes a child with special needs independent, and it improves his class participation.  Other benefits include, it makes a child mobile, with which he can move from one part to another without difficulties, it makes him able to talk and chat with others, and it makes him see and listen things in a better way.

It makes them feel that they are also the part of the world by closing the gap between them and normal children. It makes them enjoy their life and makes them do things, which they liked to do. With the help of the assistive technology, they can get a quality education without facing any complications. It also helps them in getting a job that would have been impossible to get without the use of assistive technology.

1.      Mobility

For the help of children with special needs in moving around, technology has provided them many gifts, which helps them in walking, moving and doing certain things.  Products like a wheelchair, a walking stick, the artificial legs and hands, a corner chair, the supportive seats, a standing frame, a feeding robot, a shower and bath seat, and a dressing stick are made to help children with special needs in mobility.

2.      Vision

For children with a vision problem, technology has provided products like eyeglasses, magnifying glass, GPS based navigation device, talking book player, audio recorder, and player, and Braille system for reading and writing. 

3.      Hearing

For children with a hearing problem, there are products like headphone, hearing aid, hearing loop and amplified telephone.

4.      Communication

For children, who have the communication problem, there are products like communication card with texts, communication board with letters, symbols or pictures, and electronic communication device with record speech.

5.      Cognition

For children, who have the cognitive problem, there are products like picture schedule and calendar, image based instructions timer, reminders, and audio recorder.
